Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan

Big Brothers Big Sisters has a mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Children older than 6 can be signed up for a mentor. Use the “enroll your child” link on this website to sign up your child or to learn more about this program.

Generations Ahead

Generations Ahead mentors work with pregnant and parenting teens. They can help you focus on your educational and employment goals, your child’s development and your parenting skills, and they can help you connect with different community services.

Empower Youth – Traverse City Salvation Army

Head Start and Great Start Readiness Programs through NMCAA

Northern Michigan Community Action Agency offers free pre k programs through Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program.

Early College Program | Traverse City Area Public Schools

TCAPS offered the Early College Program to provide high school students with an increased opportunity to complete transferable college credits while still in high school. Different than dual enrollment, Early College provides students with a defined pathway towards both high school graduation and earning up to two years of college credit or an associate degree at Northwestern Michigan College.

Dual Enrollment | Northwestern Michigan College

By dual enrolling in college classes at Northwestern Michigan College, high school students can get ahead on the credits they need for a degree at NMC or a four-year college at little or no cost. The local school district pays the tuition. (Check with your high school as school policies vary.) A student can dual enroll as early as their sophomore year.

Traverse Area District Library- Teen Events

The Traverse Area District Library Teen Events are designed to connect teens with the latest books, creative activities, and fun library programs. Teens can explore new releases, vote for their favorite books, and take part in engaging events that encourage reading, discussion, and community with other young readers.
